Alhuda Interfaith Collaboration a Success!

The Al Huda community in collaboration with the Student life and development at Ivy Tech raised funds and donations to feed 30 Ivy Tech families for Thanksgiving.  Al Huda Foundation donated 30 turkey baskets for students in need.  Many volunteers from Al Huda worked together to collect the funds and bought the turkeys and various canned and non-perishable items for the baskets.  It was a lot of hard work to buy, pack and deliver all the food but it was well worth the efforts.  Special thanks to Sister Anila Deen, member of Al Huda and the Student Ombudsman at Ivy Tech, for heading this project and helping it succeed.  Volunteers from Al Huda went to make the delivery at the Ivy Tech culinary school on November 15.  The staff there was very kind and welcoming and gave the volunteers a tour of the penthouse.  This was truly a very rewarding project for everyone involved.  Inshallah projects like these will help promote good will and give a positive image of our deen.  May Allah reward all the donors and volunteers who helped make this collaboration a success.

Good initiative. However I feel we are doing way too little. There is hunger all year round, not just on thanksgiving. Can we try and make this a fortnightly or at least monthly effort.

Ayesha, for that we need more volunteers. We need more people to take the initiative. I am afraid to take up another project as I had severe back pain for days after doing the delivery for this.
